HMV appoints Tradedoubler

Tradedoubler, the performance marketing and technology company, has been given sole charge of the affiliate marketing programme for leading entertainment and technology retail brand, HMV in a deal brokered by its media agency OMD.

The appointment comes at a time when the music and entertainment industry continues to face unparalleled opportunity and change. In 2011, for the first time ever, global music sales broke through the 1.6 billion mark with digital platforms playing an increasingly important role in its consumption.

HMV is committed to adapting to these trends and in delivering its ever-increasing portfolio of music and entertainment through an innovative multi-channel marketing and sales programme. The retailer has worked with OMD since the 1990s.

“We’re passionate about getting our customers closer to the entertainment content they love whether in the home or on the move,” said Paul Stevens, Head of e-Commerce & Insight at HMV, “but we need experienced partners who can help us further integrate and make the most of all the channels available to us. We chose Tradedoubler as they share these values, offering a high-quality publisher network and an excellent track record in the entertainment sector, underpinned by a commitment to collaboration and trust.”

The announcement confirms Tradedoubler’s determination to help advertising agencies create and implement powerful marketing and sales campaigns for clients at a time when other affiliate marketing firms are starting to compete with agencies.

“We are extremely excited to have been selected by HMV to run their affiliate marketing,” said Dan Cohen, Market Unit Leader, UK & Ireland, Tradedoubler. “We bring an award-winning publisher network and an enviable track record in developing flexible, customised solutions designed around individual client objectives. We look forward to working closely with OMD to drive ever greater success for HMV.”
