Blacks Solicitors Invests in the Future
Blacks Solicitors shows no signs of slowing down as it expands its specialist teams and taps into new markets
Despite the double-dip recession, Leeds-based law firm, Blacks Solicitors LLP is battling the downturn and investing in the future with the appointment of over 20 new legal professionals in the last year.
Experiencing a 10% turnover increase in the first quarter (April-June 2012), Blacks plans to maintain this healthy level of growth by tapping into new legal sectors. Two departments that have been paramount in the overall growth are Company & Commercial, which has seen a 69% year-to-date increase since last year and Commercial Property, which has seen a 47% rise.
The expansion comes at a time when many companies are cutting back, however Blacks believes it is the young talent of today that will play an integral role in the future of the firm.
The appointment of Partner, Nigel Hoyle, in the firm’s Company & Commercial department last year has strengthened the team and has had a significant impact on the department’s growth. A number of new appointments have also been made to bolster both the Commercial Property and the Commercial Dispute Resolution teams as the demand for these services continues to rise.
Blacks has also retained a number of trainees, including Aimee Hutchinson, who qualifies in September and will join Blacks’ Commercial Dispute Resolution department and Pete Bott, who has played a major part in launching the firm’s new Media, Music and Entertainment department (MME).
Commenting on the firm’s expansion, Managing Partner, Chris Allen said, “We’re always looking for new growth opportunities and we need the right people to help us achieve our ambitious goals. We pride ourselves on being a dynamic, professional and approachable firm and our new recruits all possess these great qualities, making the firm stronger than ever.”
Practice Manager, Jon Best also comments, “Blacks has made some significant changes in the last year, expanding the team (14% increase) to meet client demands. We are a progressive firm and the young talent of today will help us to drive this strong proposition forward.”
Known in the industry as a progressive and innovative firm, Blacks has also launched Blacks Connect – a conveyancing service dedicated to mortgage intermediaries. Having provided legal services to the country’s major lenders and estate agents for the last 20 years, Blacks has combined this experience with a cutting-edge intermediary proposition that blazes a trail in the conveyancing sector.
