John Lewis open first pop-up store in Exeter
John Lewis is set to open its first ever pop-up shop in Exeter to exhibit products to customers on the high street.
The British retailer will showcase house fashion, beauty, electronics and homeware in the shop, which will be constructed from materials such as galvanized steel and chipboard to a contemporary industrial design.
Opening on 3rd September, John Lewis will open the temporary 1, 200 square foot shop for six weeks and will offer personal touches such as hand-written labels.
Consumers will be able to purchase items online and collect them from the pop-up shop, and will give shoppers a preview of John Lewis’ first flexible department store format as they change and innovate.
Peter Ruis, brand and buying director for John Lewis said: ““This way of launching a new shop really engages with the local community, whilst at the same time goes back to the basics of retailing - finding a site, choosing an edited assortment and presenting it to customers in a creative and unique way.”
Products will include a preview of the newest addition to John Lewis’ womenswear department, Alice Temperley, new home range House, as well as an exclusive range from Jamie Oliver called JME.
These lines will come alongside classic John Lewis ranges JL&Co, Joe Casely-Hayford and John Lewis Weekend.
Kate Connock, branch manager, John Lewis Exeter said: “The launch of the pop-up shop in Exeter underlines the excitement around the opening of our first department store in the city. It is fantastic that we can bring John Lewis to the residents of Exeter a little bit earlier than anticipated, giving them a sneak peek at what we will have to offer when we open our doors on the 12th October.”
As well as opening the pop-up store on the high street, the John Lewis Exeter main store is the first of its kind to house the full John Lewis range and the largest of the British chain’s stores in Devon and Cornwall.
Exeter’s permanant John Lewis store is the first flexible format department store which sits between the small home stores and the much larger main department shops.
Flexible format stores will allow the retailer to open in locations that were previously not considered because of size. The stores will be tailor made for the locations. and customers will benefit from stock that is personalised to their town or city’s demands.
