eBay expert joins forces with lettings specialist

A North East company which helps people make money by selling their unwanted items online has forged a new partnership to offer its services to tenants in the region.

eBay expert, Bayagent, is working with KIS Lettings to help the property management agency’s tenants sell unwanted household items when they move house.

The arrangement means that any tenant signing a new lease or vacating a KIS property can take advantage of the Bayagent service to make money from selling items they do not wish to take to their next home. The service will also be available to any landlords looking to upgrade furnished properties by selling older items.

Bayagent, part of Bayacademy Limited, which is based in Durham, started trading in 2006 and was created by founder George Kinghorn. He started the company after selling his own unwanted items on eBay. He then started looking for stock to sell and the business grew from him selling household items to business surplus stock.

The Bayagent service works by providing customers with a valuation for their items, which are then collected and sold on eBay. The company uses George’s knowledge and experience of the online auction site to get the maximum value possible for customers. Baygroup then takes a commission of approximately 30% on the sale.

George said: “The Bayagent service has always been popular among those people who would like to sell some of their possessions but just don’t have the time or know-how to do it.

“We’re delighted about the new partnership with KIS Lettings. KIS is a very innovative agency and we’ll be helping their tenants who are moving home and don’t want to take certain items with them.”

Ajay Jagota, managing director of KIS Lettings, added: “When people move they tend to identify items which they simply don’t want to take to their new home or they may have appliances or items of furniture that won’t fit in the next property.

“This partnership with Bayagent will be available to all KIS Lettings’ tenants and landlords. For tenants it will help to take some of the stress out of moving, by removing their unwanted belongings which will be used to generate extra cash.”

The partnership came about after the two met whilst networking and George mentioned to Ajay that his largest customer base is people who are moving house.

“I’ve met Ajay on numerous occasions through networking. Many of my customers are homeowners and tenants, so working with Ajay seemed like an ideal opportunity.

“Ajay is very forward-thinking and ahead of the game in his sector, which is well-matched to how I run my business.”

Ajay adds: “I’m really looking forward to working with George and Bayagent. At KIS, we’re always looking ahead and developing new services and ways of working, such as our online account management system for landlords, to ensure our clients have the best possible experience. This new partnership will add to the already excellent service our tenants receive.”

Bayacademy also offers an eBay training and consultancy service for individuals and businesses wanting to learn how to use eBay more effectively.
