The Fuelcard Company Puts Mark Group in Control

In a time where every business is looking for ways to cut costs, a saving of £1m on fuel spend is a substantial result, and one which leading installer of energy saving solutions, Mark Group achieved with The Fuelcard Company.

Running a fleet of around 1000 vehicles across 15 UK depots is no small task, and Mark Group needed a way to reduce and carefully monitor its fuel spend. After a review of its business practices, the company was recommended and started using Keyfuels fuel cards, provided by The Fuelcard Company.

Mark Group, Environmental and Road Safety Manager, Jamie Bogg explains: “As you can imagine with such a large fleet and over 6,000 insulation solutions being installed every week, it’s difficult to keep track of fuel usage and we had little provision for monitoring. As a result, we were spending about £6.5m a year on fuel with our previous provider and needed a way to reduce this figure significantly.

“We discussed our requirements with The Fuelcard Company and the team put together a package to meet our needs. With the Keyfuels cards we pay a fixed weekly price for our fuel, making a saving on the pump price and allowing our drivers to fill up at over 1,700 sites across the UK.

“Online monitoring and invoicing has definitely made my life easier, reducing administration time and allowing me to produce my own internal reports or download excel documents straight from our account dashboard. Plus the fixed price means we can accurately forecast and manage our fuel costs, with all drivers paying the same price wherever on the network they choose to fill up.

“The reduction on pump price and effective monitoring tools have allowed us to take control of our fuel spend and over the year we’ve already made a huge 15% saving which equates to about £1m.”
