Capita acquire Expotel for £16m
London-based professional services group Capita have announced the acquisition of business travel company Expotel.
The transaction is up for a consideration of £16m dependant on a cash-free, debt-free basis to purchase the Stockport company, which arranges travel for high profile businesses.
Capita hope to add scale to their current business travel operations, and hope to provide events and meetings management capabilities.
The outsourcing firm reported half-year profits of £190.7m up by 10% year-on-year in July, and acquired Reliance Secure Task Management for £20m earlier in August.
Expotel have an impressive client base which includes National Grid, Virgin Media, the Scottish Government and BP.
Commenting on the deal, Paul Pindar, Chief Executive of Capita plc, said: “The addition of Expotel will bring both significant additional expertise and greater scale to our UK focused corporate travel business.
“Expotel also brings considerable experience in venue and event management, which, alongside our existing business, creates a proposition of genuine scale and depth in this fast growing area of the market.
“The combined company will employ nearly 900 staff in 10 locations and will be able to offer both bespoke, niche solutions and a unique end-to-end travel proposition to its current and future clients.
“In particular, with the public sector needing to drive down travel and subsistence costs, it will be in a strong position to help local and central government achieve these aims.”
