Glenise to Head Up Hair and Beauty Academy
Award-winning training provider, Trade Training Associates (TTA), has announced a key appointment to its senior management team.
Glenise Burrell, has recently taken on the role of director, at the training provider’s dedicated Hair and Beauty Academy, bringing with her immense experience of the training industry combined with sound commercial awareness from running a number of her own successful businesses.
A qualified assessor, trainer and verifier who has specialised in customer service and retail sector training, Glenise transferred these skills to running a new venture when she acquired two hair and beauty salons in Durham. Since selling the salons she has worked for The London College of Beauty Therapy in a national role as a quality manager, working with brand leaders such as Chanel, YSL and Molton Brown. Keen to draw on this experience in her new role, Glenise commented:
“The Hair and Beauty Academy at TTA provides a wide range of training courses and opportunities to anyone wishing to pursue a career in hair and beauty and I see great scope to expand on this. In addition to recruiting its own trainees who learn in a fully functioning salon, which is open to the general public, the academy also works directly with local salons to provide bespoke training solutions for staff as well as acting as assessors and verifiers. I am looking forward to making a significant contribution to the further development of the Academy.”
Speaking about this latest strategic appointment to its management team, TTA’s managing director, Ian Wood, said:
“I am delighted to welcome Glenise to our growing team of experienced training professionals. I believe her depth of experience in the retail and customer services arenas, coupled with her knowledge of running a business, will aid the ongoing success and expansion of the Academy as we seek to both develop our own business and make a positive contribution to sustainable employment within the region.
“Glenise has already identified growth areas for the Academy and is looking to introduce additional activities, such as deportment lessons which will add further value to the training courses we offer.
Since joining TTA, Glenise has secured new work from Gosforth based U Salon. Salon owner, Michelle Hilling added:
“At U Salon we prefer to recruit and train hairdressers in-house, as I often find trainees coming from a college background lack the experience gained by working in a live salon situation. Having worked with Glenise in her former roles where she has provided me with additional training support and assessment services, I know that TTA’s Hair and Beauty Academy and its trainees will benefit from her fresh, bespoke approach to training and I look forward to continuing our working relationship. “
