Could you be a volunteer business mentor?

The UK government is funding free mentor training with Get Mentoring for thousands of business people willing to give up a small amount of their time to mentor others. The funded training is available for a limited time only.

The training, develops a useful skill that be applied to all aspects of your professional life, and enables you to go on to volunteer as a mentor in a way which works best for you. The only requirement is that you’re willing to volunteer for at least one hour a month for two years.

All mentors also receive free membership with mentor status of the Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs.

Recently trained volunteer mentor and businesswoman, Jess Bailey, is now mentoring Sally Brown from The Happy Bee Company, she says:

“As with many new-start businesses Sally wants to see the profit now, but I’m able to help her to ‘keep it real’ and hang in there during the early stages, without her losing positivity and energy.”

Her mentee Sally, says:

“You put your heart and soul into your business, so you need someone who can hold your hand when it gets scary, whilst giving you the confidence to keep going. With Jess, it feels like she’s on my side.”

If you think you’ve got something to offer as a volunteer mentor sign up today. The free training is available online or at one of many workshops across the UK. Next Newcastle workshop - Tuesday 11th September. 9-1pm.
