Norwegian Steel Firm in Move to South Yorkshire
JF Finnegan has secured another major global tenant to its Beighton Link Business Park in South Yorkshire as Norwegian Steel firm, Sverdrup Steel, has selected the site for its first UK venture which will also be the organisation’s first base outside of Norway.
The global supplier of high performance steel has committed to a 10 year lease on the 20,954 sq ft Unit A1 to establish a distribution facility. JF Finnegan was represented by the Sheffield offices of CBRE and Crossland Otter Hunt in the deal and Sverdrup Steel represented itself.
The lease signifies full occupancy of Phase 1 of the flagship scheme which comprises 55,000sq ft of high quality industrial and business space over 3 buildings and is located on a 15 acre site off Junction 31 of the M1. Sverdrup Steel will join existing Phase 1 tenants Cadac BBQ manufacturer, Techtrain, Ideal Envelopes, Viaturn and SP Smith Painting Contractors.
Beighton Link was well known as the home of Swedish global industrial group Sandvik, who introduced a new 112,500sq ft state-of-the-art Sandvik European Centre of Excellence (SECoE) at the site in what represented one of the region’s largest pre-let deals. That business was taken over by Orchid in April this year.
Sverdrup Steel, which recently celebrated its 20 year anniversary, will initially operate a small team from their new base. Torstein Erevik, CEO, at Sverdrup Steel said; “We were looking to establish our first venture outside Norway and having decided upon the UK, began looking into areas which were well connected to the rest of the country and then properties which matched our requirements. Beighton Link is a prestige business park and the quality of the unit was ideal. We are excited about expanding our operations into South Yorkshire.”
Nick Gillott, Director of JF Finnegan, said; “Beighton Link has always been an exciting development to be involved with. To have international companies like Cadac and Orchid already on board, who are worldwide leaders in their field and then to be welcoming another global operator, Sverdrup Steel is a major coup for the scheme and completes our tenant mix. Our plans for the remaining three acres at Beighton Link include more of the same, but with potential retail and leisure opportunities as well.”
Daniel Austin, Senior Surveyor of Industrial Agency at CBRE, said; “JF Finnegan’s reputation for the delivery of quality developments in strategic locations has once again played a pivotal role in attracting a major tenant to the region. Beighton Link is close to all the major motorway networks and offers the calibre of building that Sverdrup Steel required. The proven successful track record of the development was a further plus point which has resulted in the full occupancy of Phase 1.”
