Barrier Group acquires ARC insulation and architectural unit

Tyneside-based industrial paint specialist Barrier have acquired a division of ARC Industrial Services in a bid to grow its capabilities.

Barrier have taken on the Insulation and Architectural Services Division on ARC, and will trade as Barrier Architectural Services.

ARC Industrial Services serve the energy and marine sectors, and Barrier will work alongside the newly acquired firm, which provides scaffolding and crane access, and support for project management.

Barrier Group are a Wallsend based company that specialises in offshore anti-corrosive materials, fire protection coatings, petrochemicals and construction programmes.

The transaction sees the acquisition of ARC’s division which was formed last year by Tony Scott and Graham Fuller, previously directors of McGill and Hertel Technical Services.

Despite being a young business, ARC have enjoyed a successful year and worked on projects for blue chip firms including BAE Systems, SSI UK Ltd and SLP Engineering.

Barrier plans to bring its existing business alongside the new division, which will complement industrial painting services the firm currently runs.
