The takeover of Bradford Bulls by a consortium led by local businessman Omar Khan has been approved by the Rugby Football League (RFL).
The Rugby League club went into administration in June and the team was deducted six points, ultimately finishing ninth in the Super League as a result.
The club was saved from liquidation at the end of August, when Khan’s company OK Bulls bought the club from administrator Guilfoyle.
Guilfoyle described the takeover as “a great achievement for Bradford Bulls, the players, fans and the city of Bradford.”
The consortium includes former sports minister and Bradford South MP Gerry Sutcliffe, who becomes honorary chairman. Restaurant owner Khan, meanwhile, takes over as the sole director.
RFL director Blake Solly said: “The club’s new owners have co-operated fully with the RFL throughout this necessarily extensive process and we look forward to working with Mr Khan and Mr Sutcliffe in the months and years ahead.”
It is not yet known whether the Bulls will start next season in the Super League, or whether they will go into the league below, the Championship. The RFL says an announcement will be made by the end of the week.
