G4S acquire Brazilian security provider Vanguarda
Security and outsourcing group G4S has confirmed its acquisition of Brazilian company Vanguarda.
The South American security provider has gross assets of £29m, and was bought by the UK firm in its entirety.
G4S also purchased São Paulo-based Interativa in December 2011 through its subsidiary, SSE DO Brasil, and the international firm hopes to further expand and develop its global foothold.
The combined revenue from Interativa and Vanguarda is around £165m, which will position G4S as an international leader in security and facilities management markets in Brazil.
Vanguarda is a provider of security personnel and systems, monitoring services and mobile patrols to the banking sector, transportation and commercial buildings industries, as well as education, health and public services.
Developing markets currently make up 31% of G4S group revenues, and the company reported organic growth of 10% for the first half of 2012. G4S hopes to reach revenues of 50% from fast-growing developing markets by 2019.
Nick Buckles, CEO of G4S said, “We are pleased to have made two strategically important acquisitions in Brazil. Vanguarda and Interativa will provide G4S with an excellent platform for growth in one of the world’s leading economies.
“We are delighted to welcome their experienced and capable management who will help us implement our strategy to invest in security and broader facilities services in the region.
“We are confident that these expanded service offerings and broadened capabilities covering security, facilities management and technology, provide us with excellent growth prospects in this large and exciting market.”
