Environmental Academy on funding support for green businesses
It’s environment focus week on Bdaily, and we are looking at what the low-carbon economy really means for UK SMEs. Following on from The Big Eco Show last week, we posed a series of questions to the panelists from the Bdaily “Seriously Speaking“ debate. Rita Callender from the Environmental Academy gave advice on how businesses can become more environmentally friendly
What types of help are available for companies to go green?
It is an excellent time to make environmental improvements In the North East. There are many funded programmes to build environmental management systems, reduce energy consumption and measure a carbon footprint. The Environmental Academy are running the Environmental Management Support Initiative (EMSI) for SME’s and which is funded by ERDF.
Can small businesses/self employed people afford to go green?
There are many benefits in greening your business particularly as larger companies will be looking for green credentials from their supply chain. We would encourage companies to take advantage of the current support in the region and companies will add real value to their businesses.
Here are some other environment focus articles that may be of interest to you: Tony Mullarky from Potts Print on why SMEs should go green;carbon reporting in logistics firms; what are the benefits of electric vehicles?; and we talk to a print business about why SMEs need to go green.
