Domino’s sales continue to rise
Pizza sales in the UK have risen again for delivery company Domino’s, “despite the challenging economic climate.”
Like-for like sales in the UK were up 3.7%, which excludes newly opened stores, while sales in the Republic of Ireland dropped by 2.1%.
The company celebrated a huge rise in online orders, with the ecommerce side of the business accounting for over 58% of delivered sales in the UK, while total online sales for the group rose by 39.3% across Europe.
Domino’s has a total of 770 stores across the UK, Ireland, Germany and Switzerland after the firm completed the acquisition of the Swiss business on the 24th of September.
Sales orders over mobile phones also increased sharply by nearly 50%, and now account for 18.5% of online sales.
The store said they faced some planning issues with the opening of new UK stores in the third quarter, although they are on target for the 60 planned openings for 2012.
Chief executive of the group, Lance Batchelor, commented on the success of the company: “I am pleased to report that Q3 has been another period of growth for Domino’s.
“We continue to set ourselves ambitious targets but believe that a great product, supported by exemplary customer service and innovative marketing will deliver strong growth in the years to come.
“We approach the fourth quarter, traditionally our strongest trading period, with continued optimism and determination.”
