Oktoberfest the perfect platform for MSP’s technology

Formed in 2002 by Directors Peter Hammond and Tony Brown, Metrology Software Products Ltd (MSP) has found tremendous success creating a patented software product that supports the precision cutting of complex parts. The NC-PerfectPart (trademarked) system - which MSP brings to Oktoberfest 2012, the north east’s premier manufacturing and engineering exhibition which takes place on October 18th at the XCEL Centre, Newton Aycliffe - uses prepared probe paths to measure where a parts location is and automatically adjusts the controller’s workspace without manual intervention. This vastly reduces set-up time, removes part-to-part variation, and eliminates 100% of concessions, scrap and re-work.

The NC-PerfectPart technology currently supports many UK and global manufacturers supplying the aerospace industry due to the precision needed in their manufacturing processes. Key customers include BAE Systems and Magellan Aerospace, where NC-PerfectPart was installed by BAE Systems to deliver parts for the F-35 Lightning II project. More recently the technology is making great strides into composite manufacturing for Formula 1 motorsport, marine and many other sectors.

Peter Hammond, Chairman and Managing Director, believes Oktoberfest offers the perfect platform to promote NC-PerfectPart here in the North East. He said: “We narrowly missed exhibiting last year but I am delighted to be involved now. I have heard extremely positive feedback about Oktoberfest 2011 and I am greatly looking forward to the event and meeting other North East companies. In the current climate, a lot of businesses put their heads down and don’t look to diversify, but I think Oktoberfest is a great opportunity to showcase the strengths and successes of North East manufacturing.

“Whilst we can’t fully demonstrate NC-PerfectPart on the day because we would need machinery in situ, we will be able to exhibit its capabilities by way of an interactive screen demonstration. There will also be plenty of literature available and manufacturers will be able to get a full insight into how we can help them in their machining process to enable them to save precious time and money in a climate where deadlines and margins are so tight.

“We employ local people many of which were also educated here and we are passionate about retaining that expertise in the North East. We recognise that there are many dominant, strategic engineering companies right here on our doorstep and we want to share our expertise with North East companies so that they can establish a key advantage over their national and global competitors. We are so confident in our NC-PerfectPart technology, that we welcome manufacturers to visit our stand to tell us about their precision machining obstacles and we can advise how NC-PerfectPart can help them to increase profits, quality and productivity.
