Pacifica Group acquires Yorkshire based home delivery firm

Durham-based electrical company Pacifica Group has confirmed the acquisition of West Yorkshire firm, Hi Way Express Home Delivery.

The deal, which was advised by law firm Ward Hadaway, will support Pacifica in its aim to achieve £20m annual turnover for 2012, and expand the company’s operating capacity.

Pacifica Group was named Fastest Growing Company of the Year at the North East Fastest 50 Awards 2011, and has maintained a staff base of 60 while extending the business simultaneously.

The acquisition from Hi Group will allow the company to provide a next-day home delivery service to its customers, who already benefit from a nationwide electrical repair service from the firm.

56 employees from Hi Way Express will be kept, and a further 130 subcontracted delivery roles will preserved.

Kevin Brown, managing director of Pacifica Group, said: “This is a great acquisition for our business as it complements the services we currently offer and gives us nationwide, seven-days-a-week coverage.

“With the additional revenue and further organic growth this will generate for the business, we are looking at turnover of around £20m in the year to the end of March 2013 and up to £25m in the year to the end of March 2014.”

Mr Brown said the company had its eye on Hi Group for a number of years, and a relationship between the managing directors of the two companies had been formed.

Pacific Group will benefit from a fleet of 55 vehicles from the deal, which will enable the business to make between 700 and 800 deliveries a day.

Manufacturers, retailers and e-commerce companies are supplied by Pacific with electrical goods.
