A Christmas Cracker for Gilbert’s Foods

Gilbert’s Foods, a leading supplier of quality meat and poultry dishes to the foodservice sector, will be celebrating Christmas in style this year, thanks to a marked increase in demand for its classic winter dishes.

The traditional turkey dinner, although still popular, has some serious contenders this Yuletide, with Gilbert’s Foods reporting a 23% increase in orders on the same period as last year of three of its winter menu dishes. Gaining esteem for the festive season are Lamb Henry in a Redcurrant and Mint Jus, Beef Rib in Italian Red Wine with Tomato and Shallot, and Pork Loin Steak in Fruity Apple and Sage Sauce.

These popular products make a welcome addition to any Christmas menu as an alternative to turkey, or can be offered as a classic dining option during the winter months.

The traditional, slow-cooked cuts are made using the finest meats, to unique recipes designed by the team of development chefs at Gilbert’s Foods.

Quick and easy for busy chefs to prepare, the individual portions can be cooked quickly and conveniently in a bain-marie for 20-25 minutes or in the oven or microwave. The portions are ready to be heated from chilled, frozen or from room temperature. Once cooked, chefs simply cut across the top of the bag then pour the meat and its sauce onto a serving plate.

Available as individual portions in various case sizes, the versatile, fully-cooked, hearty meal centres are available in chilled, frozen or ambient format making them ideal for chefs to store. Plus, the quality, taste and texture of each product is guaranteed for up to 12 months when kept in a freezer or cold store.

The high quality, meal centres can be served with all the Christmas trimmings at festive parties or banquets, or as a traditional dish with roasted or mashed potatoes and garden vegetables.

Offering diners mouthwatering alternatives to the customary turkey dinner will add appeal to menus in hotels, restaurants, pubs and bars, catered events and other foodservice outlets.

Peter Smith, managing director at Gilbert’s Foods, says: “Christmas is of course a key period for sales and we have experienced great results already from our warming winter dishes. Using our international sourcing capabilities, we are delighted to supply the UK foodservice sector with the finest, freshest, value-for-money meal centres, delivered in time for the festive period. “Putting tasty, cost-effective, popular dishes on the menu is important to meet customer demand in the run up to Christmas and over the festive season. Chefs can feel confident they are giving diners only the highest quality meals and that our range of classic winter warmers will be a popular choice this Christmas.”
