Party to celebrate cutting it for thirty years

A YARM hairdressing salon whose success has been built on the long lasting marriage of its owners, is to celebrate 30 years in business with a series of fun events for its customers.

Hairtek, on Fairfax Court, was bought by a young barber called Roy Lewis in 1982 after he met his future wife Diane while working alongside her in the salon.

It has since flourished, growing its workforce from three people to 13, and its owners now plan to thank their customers with a celebration of its longevity.

Between October 22nd and 26th, the 30th client each day will receive a free hair-cut and the salon will run a free raffle featuring top prizes and other party-related treats, including homemade cupcakes.

Hairtek manager Roy Lewis said: “The secret to success is having boundless energy and to keep driving staff to succeed. In the years ahead we aim to carry on and maintain our good name and deliver the service clients deserve. “Over the years we’ve seen clients demand a better service and we’ve resolved this by keeping up to speed with the qualifications needed to stay ahead of the curve.

“My wife and I would like to say a massive thank you to our clients and amazing staff who have helped and advised us through the tough and good times – without them we wouldn’t be where we are today.

“Among Hairtek’s loyal team is June Mcwhirter, who has worked at the salon for 21 years since joining after leaving school aged 16 and manageress Rachel Leason, who has been with Hairtek since 2001.
