North West IT firm in second takeover deal

A North West IT services provider has acquired a London web services business which specialises in the music media and insurance sectors.

adept4, which is based at Sci-Tech Daresbury, between Manchester and Liverpool, has acquired Qmediastream for an undisclosed sum.

The deal is the second acquisition by adept4 in a matter of months. It follows the takeover of nuclear, health and safety and software development company TGF Consultants.

Qmediastream counts the American General Life insurance company and the world famous Glastonbury Festival of Arts amongst its clients.

The business was launched in 1999 and offers services spanning domain & web site management & hosting, media hosting services, high end data centre provisioning and open source Umbraco content management systems.

Its founder, John McHugh, is helping to manage a transitional period following the acquisition and will remain within the business. adept4 will maintain Qmediastream’s London presence.

The deal follows significant organic growth in 2012 for adept4 and will help take staff numbers to over 50. adept4’s turnover is set to rise from £2.25m in 2011 to more than £4m by the end of this year.

adept4 was founded in 2007 and is a full-service IT solutions company working for clients in all sectors on a global basis. In addition to its headquarters at Daresbury, it has offices in London, Leeds and Bracknell.

Peter Birkett, CEO of adept4, said: “This second deal continues our strategy of pursuing growth through both organic means and acquisitions.

“Qmediastream has an enviable track record and some marquee clients – we aim to build on that reputation and those credentials.

“Our recent acquisitions enable us to give clients an extended service offer and to explore synergies which will deliver benefits to our clients and create new revenue streams for us.

“It also gives us access to new markets and sectors and will help us drive turnover and profit in the coming year.”
