Parliament meets science in business
IOP Business Forum Yorkshire and North East The Institute of Physics, working in collaboration with the Houses of Parliament Parliamentary Outreach Service and Business Durham, presents “Parliament meets science in business”.
The event is taking place on Friday 16 November 2012, 9.30a.m. – 1.00p.m, followed by a buffet lunch, at North East Technology Park Incubator, Sedgefield, TS21 3FD.
This event will bring together parliamentarians, spokespersons from the Department for Innovation, Business & Skills and the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee with representatives from science-based business and industry.
This is the first in a series of IOP Business Briefings in the North East and aims to provide simple, practical information on the work of MPs and MEPs in representing North East science-based business and industry; how parliament scrutinises the work of government and the opportunities for you to get involved; how government departments and the work of select committees can help North East business and industry raise concerns and issues at a national level.
Confirmed speakers include:
- Prof. Sir Peter Knight - IOP President
- Phil Wilson MP
- Fiona Hall MEP
- Dr Stephen McGinness - Clerk to the Science & Technology Select Committee
- Tom Smyth - Deputy Head BIS Yorkshire, Humber & North East
