Helping small businesses discover Routes to Investment

START UPS and Small businesses can find out how to access finance at a new series of workshops being held in the North East.

With support from Routes to Investment start ups and small companies have already sourced funding - and now the organisation is hoping to help many more.

This is the fifth series of workshops organised by Routes to Investment and to date 114 new business start ups and small companies have attended the workshops with the vast majority of those businesses going on to receive funding. Over £2.5 million of subsequent investment has been identified for those businesses and in excess of £4 million of future investments is being sought.

The new programme builds on the success of the previous workshops and its achievements to date. The workshops will be held every Monday between November 5th and December 10th 2012 at Newcastle City Library and will cover a variety of topics including building a professional business plan, sales and marketing, getting to market & winning business, team building, legal compliance and funding and exit strategies.

At each session, delegates will also be able to meet fund managers, business angels, advisors and successful entrepreneurs to help them identify relevant sources of funding to help develop their businesses.

Geoff Hodgson, Chairman of NEA2F said: “We know that people in the North East have some great ideas and these workshops can help people turn those ideas into reality, the track record of the workshops proves that. I would encourage anyone who wants to know how to access finance for their business to attend.”

Roland Glancy, the CEO of Radfan who was a delegate on a previous series of workshops said: “The advice I received at the workshops was invaluable. I found out what funding was available and how to access it and as a direct result secured six figure funding for my business.”

The Routes to Investment workshops have been sponsored by a number of leading companies including Newcastle Science City, GrowthAccelerator Service along with Newcastle-based Square One Law and venture capital fund managers Rivers Capital Partners.

Gaynor Dykes Regional Manager for the GrowthAccelerator Service said “GrowthAccelerator is really pleased to be a sponsor of Routes to Investment which is a great way for businesses to increase their understanding of how prepare to raise finance and ultimately to increase their chances of successfully raising the finance required to grow their business.”

The series of six workshops, which will take place between 8.30am and 12.30pm each Monday morning between November 5th and December 10th, costs £150 per delegate for the full series.
