Salad bar opens at Bruntwood's The Plaza
Barclays’ ‘One Small Step’ competition winners chose Bruntwood’s flagship Liverpool building, The Plaza, to be home to its first outlet.
Salad Bowl, a new healthy, award-winning salad bar concept, opens its doors this week after scooping the Barclays ‘Best New Business’ award and £50k grant last year.
The concept, created by Matthew Cole and Adam Meyers, will offer fresh, healthy and quality salads and wraps, located within a new retail unit at The Plaza, St Paul’s Square, Old Hall Street.
Co-owner of Salad Bowl, Matthew Cole, said: “We selected The Plaza within The Commercial District so that we can offer our new food concept without having to compete with established chain restaurants.
“Being in an office environment enables us to have a more captive audience who are regularly within the surrounding area. From my experience of previously working in an office environment, the demand for a healthier alternative for breakfast or lunch is becoming more of a necessity; we aim to provide that service.
“Another major benefit of choosing this building is our new landlord, Bruntwood. As a new business they have helped us from the beginning, from offering sound advice on the size of unit we needed, to giving us flexible rent terms and advice throughout our build.”
Customers can either choose from one of 10 chef-designed house specials or create their own via a vast salad bar filled with over 30+ fresh toppings and eight filling proteins. Salad Bowl also offers daily soups and stews. Everything is both made in-store by a trained chef and made-to-order via a Salad Bowl server, ensuring both freshness and quality is maintained.
Toby Sproll, Bruntwood’s Head of Retail said: “Salad Bowl was looking for great value, high-quality space with an expansive customer reach and The Plaza fit the bill perfectly.
“Matthew and Adam’s concept is a perfect fit for us and I am sure our existing customers will welcome the variety and choice Salad Bowl will bring to the existing amenities.”
