Top 5 Trial Presentation Programs That Stand Out

While Microsoft PowerPoint and the trusty Elmo camera system have served many business and legal professionals well over the years, trial presentation software makes presenting legal evidence easier and more impressive than ever. Below are the top five trial presentation programs that stand out in court.

1. TrialDirector

TrialDirector by InData is loaded with easy-to-use features including: transcript management, document management, video management, presentation mode, clip editing, and more. It integrates with Summation iBlaze, TimeLine Xpress, PowerPoint, and other popular litigation programs. In addition, there’s a TrialDirector for iPad app. When presenting, you can use TrialDirector to present exhibits side by side, display snippets of testimony on the screen, play deposition videos with or without scrolling text, and use a “tear out” effect to focus attention on a specific section of a document.

2. Sanction

Sanction’s been around since 1999, though it has gone through various changes since its debut. Its latest incarnation is Sanction 3, which has been designed to work with the latest Windows technology. It uses an intuitive ribbon menu and features a scrolling carousel of thumbnails, allowing you to quickly access your exhibits. Its simplified interface makes it easy to edit and combine media clips.

3. Exhibit View

Exhibit View is one of the easiest trial presentation programs available. Its drag-and-drop interface makes creating slides and side-by-side exhibit comparisons a snap. Pen tools and a call out zoom feature allow you to draw attention to an exhibit in real time. Exhibit View also allows you to present synchronized video depositions, transcripts, and other documents. Like some of the other trial presentation programs, Exhibit View also has an iPad app available.

4. Visionary

Visionary comes in both a Standard and a Pro version. The Standard version, which is free, makes it possible to search, find, and present exhibits on the fly. It imports transcripts, exhibits, and videos associated with a case. It allows you to quickly organize your presentation without a steep learning curve - and the cost can’t be beat. Upgrading to the Pro version gets you more features including a large case document capacity, cut and paste tools, import features, and electronic Bates stamping.

5. Trial Touch

Designed specifically for the iPad, Trial Touch connects with a server in the cloud. You can upload and download case files wherever you may be and organize your presentations all from your iPad. Using the app is easy, and everything is at your fingertips. Cases, exhibits, and video files are neatly stored in binders and folders. You can also print wirelessly as well as connect your iPad to video projectors for use in the courtroom. Trial Touch is also ideal for presenting to smaller groups such as opposing counsel in mediation. While the app itself can be downloaded for free, it does require a monthly subscription.

Whether you want a traditional trial presentation program or an app for your iPad, the five programs listed above are easy to use, innovative, and capable of creating amazing presentations.
