Print group launches tache-tastic campaign for good causes

A printing firm is urging men of the North East to ditch their razors for a month and sprout their own moustache as part of a major charity campaign.

Darlington-based JAK Print and Design is issuing free promotional kits to enable businesses across the region to take part in the Movember charity movement, which raises vital funds and awareness for men’s health through sponsored moustache growing.

The free kits consist of posters and leaflets explaining the competition as well as a selection of business cards with different styles of moustache – from pencil to handlebar and everything in between.

Participants are then urged to hold the card beneath their nose, take a snap, upload it to JAK’s Facebook page and the entrant which receives the most ‘likes’ by the end of November will win a set of top-of-the-range Monster Beats by Dr Dre headphones.

JAK is aiming to raise awareness of the Movember cause through the promotion and, in turn, help to raise money for the charity which especially supports prostate and testicular cancer causes.

Andy Knowles, owner of JAK Print and Design, said: “We would like to do our bit to raise awareness of the great things that Movember has achieved over the last few years.

“The charity donates money towards men’s health programs and we want to help the cause by raising awareness through our monthly magazines and also running this exciting promotion.”

Staff at the creative firm first supported Movember last year but this year are aiming to raise five times the amount they raised in 2011.

Since its inception in Australia, Movember has grown to become a truly global movement inspiring more than 1.9 million people to participate with formal campaigns across the world.

The funds it raises in the UK back programmes run directly by Movember and its men’s health partners, Prostate Cancer UK and the Institute of Cancer Research.

Businesses interested in receiving one of JAK’s free Movember kits should email print@jakpublications.co.uk or call 01325 281210.
