Turney Wylde finds framework for success
A North East construction company is going from strength to strength despite the UK’s recent slump in construction output, as reported by the Office of National Statistics.
Bucking the national trend, North Tyneside-based Turney Wylde has been appointed to five contractor framework agreements, each lasting between three and four years in duration and all with significant players within the Northern commercial landscape.
A year-long extension to a framework with the government-funded Coal Authority related to subsidence damage repairs has further added to the company’s success.
Turney Wylde’s managing director Ken Parkin said: “The last two years have been particularly tough for everyone in construction but after a period of consolidation here at Turney Wylde we are at last seeing some upward momentum and a return on our hard work.
“Of course, being on a framework is not a guarantee of work but it does position us strongly when contracts become available and is a mark of the quality of service and value for money we offer. The organisations involved are extremely solid players, which gives us confidence for the future.
“We see it as a positive step that a regional contractor is securing a place alongside the national firms that have traditionally succeeded in this area and an indicator that things are looking brighter for the construction sector generally here in the North East.”
Turney Wylde has been appointed to Spirit Partnership’s Contractors’ Framework Agreement, Newcastle City Council’s Window & Door Replacement Framework, Carlisle City Council’s Disabled Facilities Framework Agreement, Fabrick Housing Group’s Contractor Framework and The Caravan Club’s Framework Agreement.
Tim King, senior project manager for The Coal Authority, commented: “The Coal Authority is pleased to extend its Framework Agreement with Turney Wylde.
“For the last three years the business has provided The Coal Authority with a first class service dealing with complex major projects in the most difficult of circumstances. The quality of Turney Wylde’s work is exemplary.”
Ken concluded: “Turney Wylde has a strong track record in partnership working and we bring a wealth of experience of other frameworks, which has stood us in good stead. We are focused on sustainability and continue to do everything required to ensure we are well placed to capitalise when the upturn comes.”
