Double Eleven Roars to TIGA Win
VIDEO GAME development company Double Eleven has won the ultimate accolade at this year’s TIGA awards, scooping ‘Game of the Year’ for LittleBigPlanet™ PlayStation®Vita.
TIGA , the non-profit association representing the UK’s games industry, aims to make the UK the best place in the world to do games business.
It holds annual awards to celebrate successes across the nation’s companies - from developers to service providers.
Middlesbrough-based Double Eleven was also presented with the Leadership Award at the ceremony for CEO Lee Hutchinson’s management of the company over the course of LittleBigPlanet PS Vita’s development.
The TIGA wins are a massive affirmation of Double Eleven’s status at the forefront of the UK gaming industry and mean that LittleBigPlanet Playstation®Vita beat every other game shortlisted.
That’s an amazing achievement for a company that started life only a few years ago from Lee’s attic. Now, the company employs more than 40 people across offices in Middlesbrough and Leeds.
Dr Richard Wilson, CEO of TIGA, said: “Double Eleven has been a member and supporter of TIGA since its very early days. It’s fantastic to see the company doing so well and for LittleBigPlanet, the company’s first title, to have won this award. We’re delighted for them.”
Mark South, COO of Double Eleven, said: “When we heard our name called out, it didn’t immediately register - there were so many incredible games winning awards throughout the night leading up to this one at the end of the evening.
“We worked very hard to make LBP the best game we could so it’s amazing to receive this recognition.”
Double Eleven is now working on several as-yet unannounced new projects.
