Halloween Events Result in Monster Sales
Lowry Outlet Shopping Centre today announced monster sales; reporting its sales were up 8% YOY, as a result of a series of Halloween ‘monster-themed’ events. The October half-term break saw shoppers flocking to the centre for its spooky family activities, which took place all weeklong. Dubbed the ‘Monster Effect’, the scarily good events also resulted in a 9%rise in footfall YOY, with over 130,000customersthrough the door. The centre continues to deliver increased sales year on year, reporting its strongest performing category was Mixed Fashion, which was up 43%; stores include Marks & Spencer, Gap Outlet, Flannels and Austin Reed. The Footwear category also reported an increase in sales, with a rise of 36%; Sportswear was up 28%; House and Home showed an increase of 25 % and Restaurants were up by 23%. The success has mainly been down to a targeted marketing strategy and a surge in new openings at the Lowry Outlet. Recent new signings include, Puma, Granite Outdoors, Brand Authority, NDF Discount Furniture and Krisp Ladieswear , which all opened in the space of just a few months. Popular family attractions, which helpeddrive the crowds over the half-term period, included a 7-ft tall ‘Franky Stein’ character, the ‘Human Spider’ climbing wall and spooky face painting. In addition to this, the Centre is in the heart of the fast growing MediacityUK area, which currently houses a number of occupiers including the BBC, a Salford University campus and now ITV Granada, the latter who have just started to move over to the area in the last month. Keith Hughes, Centre Manager says: “The Lowry Outlet has performed way above expectations for October. The success is mainly down to a strong targeted marketing strategy which continues to support our tenants and also to our expanding and extensive retail and leisure mix, which offers our customers quality brands for less.” For more information visit www.lowryoutlet.co.uk or follow us on Twitter @lowryoutletmall
