Newcastle College open Health and Care Simulation Centre

Wednesday 28 November will see the official opening of Newcastle College’s Health and Care Simulation Centre. The facility is the first of its kind in the north east designed to meet the specific training needs of the sector and transform the teaching and training of employees across the north east.

This keynote event will bring together employers and stakeholders from the health and care sectors to experience the centre first hand and see the benefits it will bring to organisations across the north east.

At the launch, delegates will hear a keynote speech from Sir Leonard Fenwick CBE, Chief Executive of Newcastle-upon-Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Tours of the centre’s sector leading facilities will showcase how employers can access a much needed training facility that will help them to train, recruit and retain highly skilled health and care workers. The industry standard equipment and resources replicate the very best in the health and care sector, this includes:

General nursing ward, with hospital beds, interactive dummies and a range of clinical equipment
Intensive care unit featuring a defibrillator, blood-pressure monitors and a drugs and sharps storage area
Paediatric unit including birth simulation facilities and real care babieso Suite for domiciliary care and occupational health featuring ageing suits, a fully equipped bedroom, kitchen and bathroom, a sensory room and a communication room
The ‘Little Acorns’ Children’s Development unit.
