Maidstone businesses brush up on their supply chains

Local businesses from Maidstone met on the 29th November following the launch of a Chartered Global Management Accountant report that shows the biggest risk to companies in supply chains is commercial risk, such as losing customers or reputation due to circumstances outside of their control. Long-term relationships and Quality Assurance were identified as the main protection against losing custom, however, companies are wanting these benefits whilst still having the lower prices associated with a competitive trading market.

Over 30 businesses attended the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) ‘Effective Supply Chain Management’ event at the Hilton Hotel in Maidstone on the evening of Thursday 29th November to examine the importance of their supply chain relationships and how they could apply themselves to minimize customer loss and achieve customer satisfaction.

Francis Rowlands FCMA, MCIM, AMIMI, AAE, Member of Council for CIMA South East England and speaker at the event, said,“There are few certainties in life, especially in today’s commercial world of dynamic and highly competitive global markets. One of the few is that tomorrow’s business will be different to that of yesterday and today: And, any company that fails to recognize this will most probably fail. “Nowhere is this more important than in the supply chain, extending from first contact with suppliers through to achieving a satisfied customer. Every activity must ensure that it is adding value to that flow and utilizing the deployment of resources in the most effective manner.”

CIMA run a series of events across Kent and the South East of England. For further information visit www.cimaglobal.com/localevents
