Mark Pearson invests £1m into publisher monetisation platform
Mark Pearson, CEO of Europe’s leading discount network Markco Media, has continued his 2012 investments by injecting £1m into the parent company of 3 month old global discount website MyDeals.com. The funding will be used to develop a publisher monetisation platform.
Mindwork Labs, the company behind deals and voucher code website www.MyDeals.com can announce a £1 million investment from Mark Pearson, CEO of Europe’s most popular discount network, Markco Media.
The investment into the company is Pearson’s second in three months. Sales and visitor statistics impressed him and he agreed additional funding to help the company’s growth.
MyDeals.com is three months old and last month achieved more than 200,000 unique users.
Mindwork Labs intend to use the funding to develop a tool to help publishers with communities of any size monetise their audience.
The investment into MyDeals.com parent company Mindwork Labs has also given founder Tom Packer the ability to acquire Premier Content Links, a 5 person business founded by 18 year old Will Roberts, based at Markco Media’s Tower Bridge office. The business has been acquired for a six figure sum and will see Roberts take on the role of Head of Marketing. The deal increases Mindwork Labs’ employee total to 12.
As well as enabling development and acquisition, the investment will be used to fund marketing and the purchase of a relevant single word domain name for the publisher monetisation arm of the business.
At present, publishers are being asked to pre-register interest in the new content and user monetisation system here: http://www.mindworklabs.com/projects)
Mark Pearson, investor and CEO of Markco Media said of the investment,
“MyDeals.com has really impressed me since I made my first investment. Fair play to the team, their hard work and drive hasn’t faltered and has proven successful in such a short space of time to the point it would be silly of me not to invest further. The publisher monetisation platform is also something I’m incredibly interested in, with many businesses finding themselves with a sizeable audience but no particular revenue stream.”
Tom Packer, founder of Mindwork Labs had the following to say,
“We’re really excited to have secured this extra money to really take our company to the next level. Our traffic and revenue has been growing much faster than expected, and it’s fantastic that Mark has shown even more faith in us to go even further.
“I’m also personally delighted to have been able to agree a deal to bring Will and his team into the company. We’re doing some really exciting things in the company and this is all another huge step in the right direction.”
