Heritage Healthcare Employee Wins Nominations for Education Awards

Heritage Healthcare, a leading provider of home-based care, is celebrating after one of its employees gained two nominations at a recent education awards ceremony.

Clare Jones achieved nominations, by her Assessor, as Health and Social Care Student of the year and Worked-based Student of the year in awards held by Redcar and Cleveland College in conjunction with Redcar and Cleveland Council.

Clare joined Heritage Healthcare nearly two years ago as a home-carer, but has since expanded her role to a Support Worker within a clients’ home in Skelton, supporting these clients with learning difficulties.

The dedicated 25 year old has successfully juggled her full time job with her studies in which she achieved the QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care. In conjunction with this Clare also achieved a level 2 qualification in Employment Responsibilities and Rights in Health and Social Care and Children’s Settings partnered with a Key Skills Level 2.

Clare has also successfully completed a Distance Learning course in the Safe Handling of Medications Level 2 award and a Dementia Awareness course to further expand her knowledge and skills.

Clare, who lives in Skelton, attended Redcar and Cleveland College on a weekly day-release basis and used a substantial amount of her spare time to study at home. Clare has now begun to study for her QCF level 3 qualifications.

Glenn Pickersgill, Managing Director of Heritage Healthcare, said “We are immensely proud of Clare’s fantastic achievement in gaining these two nominations. They are testament to her commitment, dedication and her ability to provide exceptional client care, which are qualities ingrained in all our staff”.

Tracie Barnes, Training Manager pictured with Clare Jones, said “I am really proud of Clare for being nominated for these two awards. She was a willing student from Induction onwards. She has a thirst for knowledge and has completed several complex courses. Clare made a valuable contribution to her classmates’ studies when they found parts of the qualification difficult.

“I am sure she will go from strength to strength with whatever she puts her mind to in the future, and is a valued member of the care team in Skelton”.

Heritage Healthcare arranges for carers to assist people in their own homes with practical and personal care tasks. This may be for a short while, after an accident or an illness, or it might be long term due to age, disability or other health problems.

Heritage Healthcare, which has offices in Darlington, York, Guisborough and Loftus, also provides Supported Living services to people with physical disabilities or learning difficulties. This includes helping people go to work, attend a day centre, participate in leisure activities or visit the shops.
