Sometimes even the best plans can go awry

We live in a world that is filled with experts and professionals in all industries and categories. They have far more specialised knowledge than we do on their subject matter, and as a result we hire them produce documents or plans for us that we need for our work, or even our private needs. It would be wonderful if we could accomplish this all by ourselves. Unfortunately, the world has become far too complicated for us to have any meaningful expertise in most subjects. We are limited to the things we know intimately and have to place our trust in others to help us accomplish our goals.

Our trust is usually well placed. We tend to use professionals that either come highly recommended or that we know well. As a result, we expect them to discharge their duties in a highly professional manner, and not make any significant mistakes which could cause us harm. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work out that way, and we find ourselves in a situation where their advice or work has in fact caused us economic harm. No rational person is going to allow the situation to go unresolved, and therefore will have to take some sort of action to recover the economic loss that they have suffered.

Be Sure to Get the Professional Assistance You Require

If you should find yourself in that unfortunate situation, you shouldn’t attempt to resolve the issue on your own. Obviously, if you can, try to make a phone call or two, or even have a meeting and see if you can get compensated for your losses. But typically the professionals on the other side of the table are not so willing to open their wallet and just hand over the money you expect. It is then time to bring in a knowledgeable solicitor on board to help. There’s only one phrase you need to remember: Dewar Hogan: professional negligence. With this qualified team on your side, you can begin to analyse your options and pursue the best course of action.

There are many instances where you may have suffered economic losses due to the negligence or outright misconduct of the people you tasked for a particular assignment. It could be from a financial planner who improperly positioned you for your retirement. It could even be surveyors or architects who either did not take accurate measurements or drew up plans that were structurally or technically incorrect. Even the various engineers involved in designing mechanical or electrical systems can make serious mistakes which have a lasting negative economic impact on your project, be it your home or a new office building. Even solicitors can inadvertently cause you harm. If, as an example, your will is improperly drafted, it could have long-term implications for your heirs. In any of these situations, you have rights that you can avail yourself of, and you need to pursue them vigorously.
