Bristol Accountants get Presidential advice
Accountants from Bristol and the surrounding areas were in for a treat last week as they welcomed Gulzari Babber, FCMA, CGMA, the President of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) to the Lord Mayor’s Mansion House in Clifton Down on 5th December to hear about the benefits of becoming a Chartered Management Accountant. A CIMA student can expect their salary to double within 5-10 years after they qualify, with some members exceeding £200,000 before the end of their career.
Nearly 100 local accountants and the Lord Mayor of Bristol heard from several CIMA members including the CIMA President, about their experiences of how the Institute and the CIMA Professional Qualification has helped them progress in their chosen careers and enabled them to achieve their career goals.
Along with the CIMA President, attendees heard from, Mark Barrett FCMA, AIMC, MIMgt, Senior Consultant at Riverview Portfolio Ltd, Kevin Ward FCMA CGMA, Finance Director at Northcliffe Media, David Reeves, formerly Deputy Head of Finance Profession at the Ministry of Defence and Carol Davis, CIMA South West England and South Wales Area Secretary who works with a government contract provider.
Gulzari Babber, CIMA President, said, “It is great to see Bristol’s accountants taking control of their careers, looking to the future and the opportunities available to them. Along with an increase in salary and wider career prospects, qualified Chartered Management Accountants can expect to benefit their companies in terms of their knowledge and abilities. A CIMA employer survey found that 72% of those contacted felt their businesses needed more management accountants so a CIMA qualification is in great demand.”
