Tallest building in Middlesbrough undergoes further refurbishment
Centre North East, the tallest building in Middlesbrough, is undergoing further refurbishment by The Landlord.
Silverstone Building Consultancy has been appointed as CDM-C (Construction Design Management Co-ordinator) on the latest phase of construction on behalf of The Landlord, which entails the full refurbishment of the two top floors of the 17-storey office building.
Richard Farrey Director at Silverstone commented: ‘Since our client’s acquisition of Centre North East in August 2010 we have assisted them as CDM Co-ordinator on the refurbishment of a number of floors. The current refurbishment work includes a complete strip out of two floors of office space and a full refurbishment tailored to the needs of a new incoming tenant, Foster Wheeler Energy Limited. Our role as CDM Co-ordinator ensures the client meets the health and safety needs of those involved in the construction work as required by law’.
Centre North East is a landmark town centre office building offering open plan offices around an inner core which allows for the flexible use of space. The Landlord has already extensively refurbished internal areas including a new reception and the 15th Floor.
Richard Farrey continued: ‘Over the past year we have seen a trend for office refurbishments in central locations where landlords have recognised the need to upgrade office space in order to secure new tenants. We understand that the office market is very competitive so vacant space needs to be presented at its very best in order to stand apart from the competition and we have been able to assist a number of clients in similar circumstances.’
BNP Paribas Real Estate and Storeys Edward Symmons have recently agreed a 10 year lease with Foster Wheeler Energy for the 16th and 17th floors of Centre North East, who will take occupation mid-2013 following completion of the refurbishment work.
