Local entrepreneur keeps his ?focus? at Royal Quays
Tynemouth-based Matt Hale is ‘snapping’ his way to success after opening ‘The Time Freezer’ – a photography gallery and studio in the Royal Quays Outlet Centre in North Shields.
The gallery is Matt’s first commercial venture, having made a name for himself capturing some of the North East’s much loved landscapes which are displayed throughout the store.
In addition to his gallery collections, Matt also offers bespoke photography services including portraits for families, babies and children as well as weddings and special events.
Matt said: “I have always had a passion for photography and love capturing great images and iconic scenes or landmarks, the gallery is called the ‘Time Freezer’ as the images are frozen in the picture forever.
“I moved into the centre at the beginning of December. It is ideal, the flexible terms on offer are great for someone starting up their own business and the support from the centre’s team is fantastic.
“During December, the store was busy especially at the weekends, as it was the run up to Christmas so this has really helped raise our profile.
“I am looking forward to introducing some new images into the gallery, at the moment customer favorites include “Snowy Quayside” a snowy image of the Newcastle Quayside and “Winter Sunrise” at North Tyneside’s much loved St. Mary’s Lighthouse.”

Royal Quays Centre Manager, Judith Ramshaw, said: “I am thrilled that Matt chose to open his first business venture at the centre. His artwork is already proving to be a hit with visitors and we will continue to do all we can to help the store continue its success.”
Royal Quays has 50 stores which employ around 500 staff, making it an important employment hub for the North Tyneside area.
It is home to a number of top brands offering up to 60% off RRP such as Marks & Spencer Outlet, Nike Factory Store, Gap Outlet, Collectables Outlet, Clarks, Next and Mountain Warehouse, along with a vast range of local, independent retailers specialising in areas such as sport, fashion, jewellery, music and electrical items.
As well as attracting famous brands, since it was opened in 1996, Royal Quays has achieved great success in assisting local retailers looking to get to the next stage of their development.
Packages include competitive and flexible rent agreements that can be linked to store performance as well as expert advice from the on-site management team on marketing, shop design, presentation and sales.
