Wedding company rides high with Tour de France

An award-winning Harrogate business, which has its HQ in Northumberland, has been involved with Yorkshire’s prestigious Tour de France plans.

Simply Bows and Chair Covers worked with Welcome to Yorkshire to dress Leeds Town Hall for the gala dinner last Thursday (January 17th) following the announcement of the Tour de France’s route through Yorkshire.

The specialist chair and table covers’ business created bespoke sashes and accessories in the world famous bikes race’s colours of yellow, black and white and dressed 300 tables.

The Tour de France will pass through Yorkshire next year during its opening stages, starting at Leeds Town Hall with the first stage ending in Harrogate.

Alexandra Stead runs Simply Bows and Chair Covers in Harrogate area, specialising in quality chair covers and linen for weddings, balls and corporate events at venues such as Rudding Park, Wetherby Racecourse, Allerton Castle and the spa town’s hotels.

Alexandra, who only established her business 18 months ago, has already worked with Welcome to Yorkshire, dressing the VIP tent at the Great Yorkshire Show last year.

Simply Bows and Chair Covers has seen demand for its services increase dramatically in the Yorkshire area in the last year and, as well as working with Welcome to Yorkshire, also dressed Ladies’ Day at Wetherby Racecourse.

In addition to these high profile events, the company dresses weddings, corporate functions, bar mitzvahs, balls, charity events and christenings.

Alexandra said: “I was thrilled to be invited by Welcome to Yorkshire to be part of the Tour de France plans- it’s such an honour especially being from Yorkshire. Thanks to our bespoke service, we were able to perfectly match the table dressings to the colours of the Tour de France and we received some lovely compliments.

“Showcasing what we do at such high profile events is a major boost for the business and is helping us grow. The team in Harrogate works on a vast range of events as the area offers such a variety of venues from tea shops and town halls to majestic hotels and cosy country houses.”

Alexandra, who has worked in the hotel industry for over twenty years at venues across Yorkshire and in London and Berlin, launched her franchise in July 2011.

Simply Bows and Chair Covers is a franchised business, established by Northumberland entrepreneur Sarah Pittendrigh, and has other franchisees in locations such as Aberdeen, Cumbria, Lancashire, Berkshire and around the North East and Yorkshire. At the end of 2012, the business was named Most Promising New Business by the British Chamber of Commerce.

Plans are also being made to take Simply Bows and Chair Covers into Europe and beyond after receiving enquiries from countries such as France, Spain and Cyprus.
