Former pupil gives talk at King's School
A chartered surveyor returned to his old school to give pupils a talk about careers.
Thomas Conneely, 24, from Whitley Bay, left King’s School, in Tynemouth, North Tyneside, in 2007 to study at Northumbria University where he gained first class honours in estate management.
The course led to him becoming a chartered surveyor specialising in commercial property with JK Property Consultants.
He is also regional chairman of RICS matrics, a support and networking group for young property professionals in the North East.
Thomas held a seminar for senior pupils at the school, focussing on careers in surveying and how money can be made from property and commercial real estate.
He said: “There are many aspects to surveying. It’s not about sitting in an office.
“It’s also about getting out and about, meeting people, facilitating change and shaping the skyline of towns and cities locally and globally.
“The scale of the subject is exciting.”
Joanne Robson, King’s head of careers, added: “Thomas engaged everyone with his presentation. Students were still eager for information after the seminar.”
