Strategic Corrosion Management secures contract extension with Maersk

Strategic Corrosion Management has secured an extension to an External Corrosion Condition survey contract with Maersk Oil, operators of the Danish Underground Consortium (DUC) comprising Shell, Chevron, Maersk Oil and the Danish North Sea Fund.

The Cramlington-based company, which has an operation in Aberdeen, will deliver surveys and data management for three further assets in the Danish sector of the North Sea.

The 15-week project had led to SCM adding two specialist surveyors to its pool of engineers for the project.

In addition, to support this contract extension and along with other recent growth experienced by the company, SCM has recruited an in-office team to manage project deliverables and support new Client Training services for the RISCm toolset.

SCM secured the original commission to undertake Component and External Corrosion Condition surveys for the DUC through Maersk Oil in 2006.

Having been engaged to deliver surveys of all the operator’s existing offshore platforms in the North Sea, the successful completion of the contract included Surveys and data management on 52 individual platforms including the upgrade of Maersk Oil management systems by the installation of SCM’s Risk, Integrity, and Strategic Corrosion management (RISCm) toolset.

RISCm has been adopted for DUC by Maersk Oil as the preferred system of External Corrosion Management and SCM has worked closely with them to deliver specialist additions to RISCm supporting the survey and monitoring of Transits & Penetrations – a high risk aspect of asset integrity control. In RISCm this speciality addition integrates well with the others of Flanges and Bolting, Pipe Supports-Hangers and Springs, Temporary Repairs and Vessels.
