Training company aims to match success of parent

A NEWLY formed training company is gearing up for rapid expansion to mirror the success of its parent company.

C & A Safety Solutions was launched last autumn to deliver highly specialised health and safety and management courses for North East manufacturing and engineering companies.

The Hartlepool-based business has already picked up an impressive portfolio of clients including Camerons Brewery, Clarion Homes and Cleveland Potash at Boulby.

It is aiming to grow in tandem with its parent company – C & A Pumps & Engineering – which is on course to turnover in excess of £600,000 in its first year.

Managing Director Alan Roberts said: “When we launched C & A Pumps & Engineering, it was always intended to set up a training division to provide courses that really plug a gap in the market – something different that is not currently available.

“The aim is for C & A Safety Solutions to become a leading business in its own right by delivering very specific training, skills and qualifications that other providers cannot accommodate. We can deliver courses to individuals about everything from training in the safe use of ladders and operating machinery; to management and presentation skills or whole modules to help businesses improve their health and safety and environmental knowledge.”

A particular specialism for C & A Safety Solutions will be preparing businesses for quality standards qualifications particularly ISO accreditation in health and safety; environmental performance and quality management.

Its team of training experts have more than 50 years’ experience in the industry, specifically industrial and manufacturing, and the company is hoping to double its workforce to six by the end of the year.

The business is currently owned by C & A Pumps & Engineering Ltd which launched last year to provide electrical and mechanical installation services for commercial and industrial customers including Sedgefield Racecourse, UK Steel Enterprise, Northumbria Water, Cleveland Fire Brigade and HM Prisons.

One company which has already benefitted from a tailor-made course delivered by C & A Safety Solutions, is Hartlepool-based JCS Civil Engineering which attended specific sessions about safety with abrasive wheels.

JCS Civil Engineering Director Tony Boyle, said: “It was a really informative course. We always like to make sure we’re up to date with safety legislation and the lads are properly trained so it was great to have a local company on our doorstep to go to.

“Myself and the lads all got something out of it and I’ll definitely look at further courses with C & A Safety Solutions.”
