BCS Ltd Reaffirms its Commitment To Good Causes
Software Asset Management Expert Pledges to Continue Raising Money and Awareness for Good Causes in 2013
Business Continuity Services (BCS) Ltd, a trusted global provider of Software Asset Management (SAM) solutions and services, has outlined its ongoing commitment to good causes throughout 2013, following a successful spate of fundraising activities in 2012. From supporting the Oscar Knox WeeOscar4Life campaign to a generous donation to Alzheimer’s Scotland and Alzheimer’s Research UK, BCS had an extremely charitable 2012.
Having undertaken a number of charitable activities, the team at BCS felt particularly moved and inspired by the story of Wee Oscar Knox, a four year old boy who is battling with high risk neuroblastoma - a rare form of cancer which mainly affects children. As a result, BCS joined the Knox family’s campaign to raise funds for Oscar to get the treatment he so desperately needs. BCS supported fundraising initiatives such a bucket collection before a Glasgow Celtic Football Club home game against Dundee Football Club, raising an astonishing £32,000. BCS also enlisted the help of local press contacts and it posted stories on social media sites to make sure the world knew about Oscar Knox and how they might help him.
The WeeOscar4Life campaign team continued to raise awareness through various fund raising activities including: a race night at Celtic Park, that was attended by former Celtic players, Tom Boyd, Bobby Petta and Frank McAvennie as well as current players partners and great supporters of the campaign Lisa Hague (partner of Kris Commons and patron of the WeeOscar4Life campaign), Ruby May Ridgeway (partner of Joe Ledley) and Lucy Parmenter (partner of Gary Hooper). The race night raised over £27,000 in funds.
Also benefitting from BCS’ charitable initiatives last year was the Shop Direct Charitable Foundation, through its Winter Wonderland Charity Ball. The Foundation was created by BCS customer Shop Direct, to support charitable activities and community groups in the North West. The Foundation is committed to making a positive impact on the communities in which Shop Direct operates, and supports a range of community and charitable organisations through a variety of activities – focused on improving the lives of children and families. BCS donated £1000 to sponsor the table water at this glittering event.
Christmas 2012 saw BCS forego its usual annual competition for its customers to win an extravagant hamper in favour of a charitable donation to an organisation nominated and voted for by customers. Alzheimer’s Research UK received the highest number of votes and so was the worthwhile charity receiving this donation. As well as making an online £200 donation to Alzheimer’s Research UK, BCS Ltd’s employees Vanessa Wilson and Lesley-Anne Smith were delighted to present a cheque for £400 to Jenny McKeand from Alzheimer’s Scotland. The girls commented that “BCS supports various charitable causes and we are delighted to represent BCS - Alzheimer’s Scotland is a great cause that does fantastic work.”
Another recipient of BCS’ charitable giving was Action for Children: BCS sponsored its PR company that participated in the 2012 “Byte Night” event, where IT professionals sleep out on the streets to raise money for disadvantaged children. And finally, Aspire was another charity that received support from BCS. Aspire helps people with spinal injuries and ran an “Aspire Channel Swim” which challenged participants to swim the equivalent of the English Channel (22 miles) over a 12 week period. BCS sponsored an employee’s son to undertake this exciting challenge.
