Lord Green visits innovative West Midlands company

A senior Government minister has paid a visit to an innovative Coventry engineering company.

Lord Green, Minister of State for Trade and Investment, was in the region as part of a manufacturing summit and then took a trip to Binley-based Envisage Group along with representatives from UKTI (UK Trade and Investment) and the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce.

Lord Green got to see some of the latest innovations and automotive, rail and aerospace designs from the highly-regarded city firm, which combines state-of-the-art design with traditional manufacturing skills.

And it is those skills in design and engineering that make the company ripe for an even greater overseas presence.

The company already has clients in India, China, Malaysia and the EU in automotive engineering, automotive concept design, automotive modelling, work on electric vehicles, engineering and concept work for rail and aerospace, as well as training and software services.

Lord Green and the team from UKTI said there was further potential to grow its international market base.

Lord Green said: “The UK engineering sector is a national success story and vital element to the Government’s plan for sustainable economic growth.

“Here in the West Midlands, Envisage is a classic example of how innovation is transforming Britain’s engineering sector.

“It is exactly the type of company that will play a vital role in rebalancing our economy towards high-end, value-added design and engineering products that will help drive regional growth through exports.”

Envisage is a group of six companies in the global transport engineering sector which provides design, manufacturing and recruitment and offers a one-stop world class service to its client base.

Envisage chief executive Chris Lee said: “We are delighted to welcome the Minister of State for Trade and Investment, Lord Green, UKTI regional director Paul Noon and colleagues at this important time for the Envisage Group.

“We have recently restructured our business to support major export led projects and are looking to benefit from trade in Europe and the US as well as the expanding BRIC markets.

“I am confident that we now have the integrated resources we need, including the facilities, skill base, knowledge, technology and craftsmanship, to compete with the best in the world and to support companies who are leading the way in global transport engineering.”
