Advanced Medical Solutions posts 135% profit rise
Cheshire-based firm Advanced Medical Solutions Group has posted a 135% rise in pre-tax profits to £10.8m.
The Winsford-headquartered company’s profits were bolstered after it acquired the German surgical dressings company RESORBA in 2011, which pushed like-for-like revenues up 3% to £35.1m.
Progress with the business’ ActivHeal brand in the NHS produced a 29% increase in revenues, while sales of its LiquiBand products in Germany rose by 15%.
Furthermore, the company said its market share in the U.S. has expanded strongly through LiquiBand, with a 13% volume increase.
ActivHeal products are all manufactured in Winsford where technologies are continually developed to produce better wound dressings that aid healing.
LiquiBand is similarly produced in Cheshire, and is used to close wounds using a syringe like single use instrument.
Dr. Don Evans, chairman of Advance Medical Solutions, said: “2012 was an important year for AMS following the acquisition of RESORBA® in late December 2011.
“Group revenues and profits both saw strong growth as a result, not just from the new business we acquired but also from many of our existing operations which continued the excellent progress of the last few years.
“With the Group now reorganised and more focused to deliver growth across our four new business units, we remain positive about our prospects.”
