Temporary dialysis unit at King?s College Hospital

A temporary renal dialysis unit is being provided by EMS-Healthcare to deliver essential care to hundreds of patients at King’s College and Dulwich Community Hospital.

EMS-Healthcare has designed and fitted out its Liberty Quad vehicle, linking four 13.6m medical trailers together, to create a high-quality seven-bed ward with one private isolation room for patients to be treated. EMS also managed the installation including hook-up to the hospital mains and to a containerised reverse osmosis filtration system.

Based at the Dulwich Community Hospital site, the high-tech clinical environment will house life-saving renal dialysis treatment for patients at one of London’s largest and busiest hospitals. Over the next six months it will be operational six days a week, delivering three sessions per day to groups of eight patients at a time.

Keith Austin, Partner in EMS-Healthcare said: “This is a second deployment of a renal care unit for EMS. Liberty Quad provides the ultimate flexible solution to estate management, offering a ready-made clinical environment that we can put in place in a relatively short period of time. This makes it attractive to hospitals that need to free up valuable hospital space quickly and efficiently with a temporary solution that they can guarantee will meet NHS standards.”
