Kidz in the Middle exhibition at the Ricoh
Two thousand visitors are again expected to attend one of the UK’s largest free exhibitions dedicated to children and young adults with disabilities and special needs at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.
Kidz in the Middle will be situated in the Jaguar Exhibition Hall on Thursday, March 21, for the fifth successive year.
Over 120 exhibitors will be providing advice and information on a wide range of areas including funding, mobility, seating, beds, communication, accessible vehicles and specialist schools and colleges for children and young adults with disabilities and special needs, their families, carers and professionals who provide support.
There will also be an Inclusive Sport Zone where a variety of activities will be demonstrated including volleyball and tennis.
Andy Davies, one of the Business Development Co-ordinators at Disabled Living who helps organise Kidz in the Middle, said there were several new features this year.
“We will have an accessible playground, a soft play area and a sensory pod to show the different types of equipment that are available and how much fun children have,” he said.
“A sports and activity area will be returning which is always popular and the whole show is geared towards providing help and information for children and young adults of all ages.
“Many families are not aware of the help which is available and might be missing out on help and support.
“As funding continues to be a major concern the Kidz team has introduced the Funding Point to all the Kidz events where visitors can access information on alternative streams of funding for equipment and much more. A number of voluntary, support and service organisations will also be on hand to offer advice and information on the support available.
“Running alongside the exhibition will be a full programme of free Continuing Professional Development seminars on a wide range of topics for both parents and professionals. There will also be a free workshop on Assessment and Prescription for Special Seating.”
Chris Owen, Senior Events Manager at the Ricoh Arena, said the show continued to evolve each year.
He said: “Kidz in the Middle always has a steady flow of visitors throughout its day-long exhibition and it is a valuable way of communicating the help which is available.
“We have visitors travelling from all parts of the Midlands to the annual exhibition and I am sure it will be a hive of activity once again.”
