Yorkshire wind turbine firm wins exclusive Dutch contract
Wind farm specialist ICE Renewables has secured a multi-million pound contract with Dutch manufacturer, Lagerway.
The North Yorkshire company will act as Lagerway’s commercial broker and service integration partner, which means it will handle their wind turbines across Great Britain.
With a growing portfolio of wind solutions, this latest deal will add to ICE Renewable’s already sizable capabilities in installation, operations and maintenance.
The Northallerton-based business saw record growth last year with 3.1MW of distributed wind installations and a 300% increase in turnover.
Lagerway’s newest “direct drive” turbines have fewer components than previous models, and are designed to have a longer lifetime and endure severe environments.
Julian Martin, chief executive and chair of Renewable UK’s Small and Medium Strategy Group, said: “Securing this contract is excellent news for ICE Renewables.
“It ensures that we are able to offer our clients leading edge technology solutions across a range of turbine capacities.
“These direct drive turbines are leaders in their class, delivering excellent levels of energy capture and therefore return on investment.
“These turbines complement our existing portfolio of kilowatt class turbines and enable us to offer even more solutions to our customers.”
Lagerway’s director Aart Van de Pol, commented: “We approached ICE Renewables because we see them as the ideal Commercial Broker for the British market.
“We firmly believe that the cutting edge technology we provide and the cost-effective high tower solution we offer will appeal here – where high quality and excellent life cycle price-performance levels are required.
“The Full Service Agreement including comprehensive insurance package, is executed by ICE on behalf of Lagerwey who is the contractual partner.
“From planning to operations and maintenance this also enables us to provide customers with a fully integrated offer ensuring our customers become our partners.”
ICE Renewables was established in 2006 and currently employs 20 people, with a management team that has more than 35 years experience in the renewable energy market.
