Independent patient survey rates Spire Washington top
An independent patient survey has shown that satisfaction levels with care at Spire Washington Hospital remain high and that patients agree they are treated with compassion and respect.
Out of the respondents, 99% of patients rated the overall quality of service excellent, very good or good, while 99% also said the quality of care from their consultant was also excellent, very good or good.
The same percentage stated they were likely to recommend Spire Washington Hospital in future.
The independent survey is commissioned annually by Spire Healthcare, which runs 28 hospitals around the UK. During three months in 2012, 21,800 patients who attended one of the hospitals were randomly selected and asked to complete a survey.
Every single participant who attended locally – 100% - said the cleanliness of Spire Washington Hospital was excellent, very good or quite good. The hospital has had no reported cases of MRSA or C.Difficile infections since it began to publish its clinical outcomes in 2006 and operates a very strict hygiene policy.
When asked about the quality of care from the out patient staff, 98% of patients stated that this was excellent, very good or quite good, with the same number agreeing they had confidence and trust in the nurses looking after them. Food quality and consistency of nursing care resulted in the same feedback from 97% of patients.
Silvie Adams, director of Spire Washington Hospital, said: “Every single member of staff here commits to delivering the highest level of care and an enjoyable patient experience and these results are testament to the hard work of our 250 strong team.
“This is an annual survey and each year we try hard to better our results as improvements can always be made. We’re very pleased with these patient outcomes, which underline the time spent listening to patients and implementing any necessary changes has been extremely well spent.”
