Newburn Bakehouse Sponsors Great North Gluten Free Fair

Newburn Bakehouse by Warburtons is proud to announce that it will be supporting the North’s very first gluten-free fair, which will take place on 27th April at the CastleGate in Newcastle city centre.

The fair will showcase Newburn Bakehouse’s range of free-from products, including brown, white, seeded and fruit loaves, baguettes, wraps, teacakes and muffins.

The range is produced in a dedicated gluten and wheat free bakery in Newburn by a team of expert gluten and wheat-free bakers. They combine generations of skill and experience with an unquenchable passion for their craft to produce a range that has won multiple food awards for quality and flavour.

The Fair’s organiser is TASTECLUB (formerly Taste North East), the Club for everyone who makes, serves, sells and loves great north food and drink. There will be around 40 stands at the event, made up of some of the best local and national producers, shops and restaurants that make or sell gluten-free food and drink.

Jane Hogan, Chief Executive of TASTECLUB, said: “We’re delighted to have Newburn Bakehouse by Warburtons on board as our sole event sponsor. It’s a perfect fit, as they are highly committed to the mission of the Fair, to prove that gluten-free doesn’t mean taste-free, and they are a family-owned company based right on our doorstep.

“We know that one in 100 people suffer from coeliac disease, and that many are passionate about seeking out new places to buy and eat gluten-free. Our Fair will prove that everyone can enjoy a wide variety of tasty great north food and drink, even if they follow a gluten-free diet.”

Chris Hook, Director of Newburn Bakehouse by Warburtons, commented: “We’re pleased to be sponsoring the Great North Gluten-Free Fair.

“At Warburtons we believe that eating gluten-free and wheat-free shouldn’t be a challenge and it should be a delicious taste each and every time. The number of people actively choosing a gluten-free and wheat-free lifestyle or being diagnosed with a condition that means removing gluten or wheat from the diet is increasing, which is why we have invested in our dedicated bakery in Newburn.

“It’s great to see that not only are people in this region keen to try more gluten-free food and drink, but also that an increasing number of local producers, retailers and restaurants are offering gluten-free options or menus. This looks set to be a fantastic event.”

Entry to the inaugural event, which will run from 10am to 4pm, costs £2 for adults and is free for children. All attendees will receive a Newburn Bakehouse muffin, as well as a Where to Eat Gluten-Free Guide, which will contain information about buying and eating gluten-free food and drink in the region.
