Data destruction company win contract with Teesside University
A specialist data destruction facility at Innov8 has earned them a contract from Teesside University.
Innov8 is to handle the removal and secure processing of the University’s retired and redundant IT equipment.
The award-winning WEEE disposal services company will be tasked with safely destroying highly confidential data.
Teesside University’s Environmental and Travel Policy Facilitator, Richard Cuthbert said: “Disposing of redundant IT equipment represents a particular challenge to us.
“Much of the equipment that we look to replace contains highly confidential data.
“We therefore need to be absolutely certain that any data contained on the hard drives of these machines doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.
“When we were first approached by Innov8, a key concern was whether they could provide us with the reassurance we were seeking in terms of data destruction.
“We were delighted to discover that Innov8 is fully CESG (Communications-Electronics Security Group) and DIPCOG (Defence Infosec Product Co-Operation Group) compliant, which means that we can be totally confident that data is completely wiped from every hard drive before it is prepared for recycling.
“Initially, Innov8 was just one of a number of disposal organisations that we were employing to look after particular streams of our WEEE waste, but their efficiency, reliability and quality of service has persuaded us to expand the range of WEEE waste streams handled by Innov8 to include IT equipment”
Teesside University, employs 2400 members of staff and caters t o 30,000 students at its various establishments and partner colleges across the Tees Valley.
Innov8 Disposal’s Managing Director, Louise McAlpine said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been appointed sole supplier of WEEE disposal services to such a prestigious organisation as Teesside University.
“Data security is a concern for many organisations and we have made a significant investment in our processes to enable us to provide our customers with the assurances that they require.
“We are already the preferred provider to a number of schools in the area and see education as a key development opportunity area for Innov8 Disposal.”
