Technology firm fired up by new deal

North East technology firm Eemits Communications has grown its national presence further by securing a major new contract with Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Billingham-based Eemits, which delivers bespoke communications solutions to a wide range of clients, will supply fire fighters with the very latest technology to aid their communications as they carry out their vital work.

The contract will see Eemits provide the service with almost 200 cutting-edge digital radios with additional accessories which will be used in the field when responding to emergency situations. The company has also upgraded the fire service’s communications network from analogue to digital.

The fire authority becomes the latest in a long line of new clients Eemits has won from outside the region in the last 12 months, with national transport group Metrobus and Royal College of General Practitioners, in London, among its recently added customers.

By switching Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service to digital technology, its fire fighters now have access to improved radio speech quality and the ability to send data through their radio devices – enabling them to stay in touch without clogging up the network.

The new radios also have longer battery life than those the service was previously using, while they also have a stronger signal in extreme conditions.
