School set for China trip beyond all measure

North East manufacturing systems company Metrology Software Products ltd (MSP) has provided funding towards the Duchess’s Community High School’s educational visit to China. With many of its customers now designing processes in the UK, but manufacturing in the far east, MSP encourage cultural exchange schemes of this nature.

This trip of a lifetime gives the students the chance to see China’s famous sights, as well as form connections with the pupils of No 2 Middle school in Shijiazhuang, China.

Based in Alnwick, MSP has grown to support manufacturing giants across the globe. Customers include BAE Systems, Magellan Aerospace and other Airbus suppliers.

The company’s radical NC-PerfectPart technology is now making great strides into composite manufacturing for aerospace, Formula 1 motorsport, and marine sectors.

Tony Brown, Director at MSP said: “We employ local people, most of whom were educated here, and we’re passionate about supporting education and student development, in the North East.

“When I heard about the China trip I wanted to help, as MSP already sponsor a PHD engineering student at Hong Kong Poly University, and we have been looking for a way to promote educational exchange from the UK.”

“We are excited to be part of this year’s venture and urge other businesses to support the school in its work.”

The group of 70 students from years 10 to 13 and 9 staff lead by Peter Burrow head to China on 27 March, and will be sporting bright turquoise tops sponsored by MSP.

Mr Burrow said: “We are delighted by MSP’s gesture. This is the second trip the school has made to China after a very successful first experience in 2010. The school hopes to return to China in 2016 to allow another generation of students to experience this incredible country.”

The Duchess’s school hosted their Chinese visitors in the summer of 2010 after the school’s initial visit, and again in 2011. The proposed 2012 visit fell victim to the Olympic price rises of the flights into the UK, but they look forward to cementing friendships made in China when the Chinese students return to experience the sights of Alnwick and the North East this Summer.
